Concept 1: Child development is a foundation for community development and economic development, as capable children become the foundation of a prosperous and sustainable society.
There is age-old wisdom in investing in the next generation. Throughout human history this has also been the practice through instinct and intent. In the present age, where economic well-being is given the greatest priority in most families, and with both parents pursuing this end, the children of today are at a greater risk of neglect than ever before. While the economic needs of the child is pursued the emotional and social needs (and skills) are generally neglected.
Concept 2: Brains are build over time
As with the growth process of any organism the brain grows in mass, complexity and sophistication over time. Although this growth is evident through adulthood and beyond, it is most crucial in the first few years of a child's life. The development of increasingly complex skills (mental, physical, emotional, social , etc.) and their underlying structures (or schemata as Piaget called them) builds on the structures and skills that were formed earlier. Through this process, early experiences establish a foundation for learning, behavior, and health (both physical and mental) for later life. A strong foundation increases the probability of positive outcomes in later years while a weak foundation greatly increases the odds of later difficulties. early child brain development
Concept 3: The interactive influences of genes and experience literally shape the architecture of the developing brain, and active ingredient is the "serve and return" nature of children's engagement in relationships with their parents and other caregivers in their family or community. While the genetic resources that a child is born with cannot be altered, the experiences that the child is offered especially during his early years can optimize the genetic potential that he has. Human nature is such that each child is born with an innate desire to learn and to be competent. That need must be fulfilled as best as possible. With lots of stimulation and interaction in the early years, the child is assured of better realizing all the potentials he is born with.
Concept 4: Both brain architecture and developing abilities are built "from the bottom up," with simple circuits and skills providing the scaffolding for more advanced circuits and skills over time,
The early years of a child are undoubtedly the most crucial years for later development; the foundational mental structures (or circuits) are established then. Higher level structures build on simpler structures constructed earlier. If the earlier structures are not well constructed difficulties are encountered in constructing the higher level structure has structures later on. For example, if a child has not grasped the fundamental concepts of Numbers and Operations, it will be impossible for him to understand Fractions, Decimals and Algebra.

It is a short lived, part of growing up process and a child must encounter such stresses many times in his life because they are essential in facing the realities of life.
